Requisition Summary

The Powertrain Department is seeking an Engineering Supervisor to lead a team of design engineers responsible for implementing driveline, exhaust, and fuel system solutions. In addition, the team responds to requests from manufacturing, service, and other key internal and external customers.  Ideal candidates will have a strong leadership background in managing design groups or project teams to meet department and division goals, and will thrive in a fast-paced environment driven by daily requirements from the truck manufacturing plants.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a high performance team which includes personnel development, team building, resource management, and design oversight
  • Support production and field service with engineering direction and issue resolution
  • Manage engineering deliverable queues including: Requests for Engineering Information, Option Approval Requests, Plant Liaison Reports
  • Ensure the use and best practices of quality tools (Design for Six Sigma) and project creation process
  • Foster innovative design, problem solving, and creative thinking
  • Manage medium-to-small projects from inception through launch
  • Define and track all aspects of projects including budget, costs, schedule, and validation
  • Effectively communicate up, down, and across the organization

Qualifications & Skills

  • BSME or equivalent engineering degree required; Master's Degree and PE license preferred
  • 5+ years of design experience; previous supervisory, project management, and/or design lead experience preferred
  • Self-directed with excellent analysis and engineering judgement
  • Experience working with Manufacturing plant or operations desired; direct plant or operations experience preferred
  • Experience working within a gated product creation process desired
  • Overall product knowledge required; driveline and chassis experience preferred
  • Ability to perform in a fast-pace, results-oriented environment, while managing multiple priorities
  • Builds a sense of team and is accountable for team interactions and dynamics
  • Ability to provide group leadership and management of human resource issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
