Job Functions / Responsibilities

The summer intern for the Technical Services groups will learn how to create complex selection rules to manage and select specific Bills of Materials, Manage Product Data, and help organize design intent information into our various systems. The intern will also work with the Drawing Release group to help build CAD training materials and assist with the administration of the various systems this group supports for engineers. In addition, they will work in the Dimensional Analysis group to ensure design objectives for fit and finish are being met and complete tolerance and capability analyses for major projects. 


  • Develop an understnading of GD&T principles.
  • Follow control plans and conduct inspections to obtain dimensional data from parts and assemblies.
  • Develop reports using the Quality Database system.
  • Develop an understanding of statistical methods for predicting part quality.
  • Support the DM group in daily tasks related to managing product quality at the part and assembly level.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a BS/BA or MS program with a mechanical or electrical engineering degree focus. Minimum qualifications include completion of sophomore year in a engineering program leading to a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated PC skills (Outlook, Word, and Excel; prior experience using Access database system preferred.
  • Automotive experience/interest desired; excellent organizational/communication skills.
  • Knowledge of 3-D CAD software a plus.
