PACCAR Embedded Engineering

Job Summary

PACCAR’s Embedded Engineering department, which serves both Kenworth and Peterbilt, has an opening for an Embedded Trainer.  We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join our growing Software Quality team!  This is an opportunity for you to be on the leading edge of developing and facilitating critical new next generation engineering curriculum.  This is a great opportunity to work across multiple teams and be seen as a highly valuable team member as we take on broad but rewarding challenges!

 

Responsibilities  

 

  • Contribute to development of procedures and practices that ensure continuous improvement of high quality, reliable software systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage online content for Embedded Curriculum, Security and Functional Safety in a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Provide group and individualized instruction to ensure Engineer proficiency with their required applications and related workflows.
  • Develop and execute onboarding and training plans for existing and new employees entering the department to ensure a thorough understanding of processes and standards.
  • Maintain knowledge of each position concerning their role, function, and workflow to facilitate customized and effective instruction.
  • Assist with workflow redesign and processes as necessary.
  • Assist in coordinating training schedule to support the hiring and training demands of the organization.
  • Develop strong relationships with the Engineering staff to facilitate communication and feedback.

 

 

 Qualifications/Skills 

 

  • 4-year degree in learning and development, education, curriculum and instruction, organizational development, or related field.
  • Desired Experience
    • Experience as being a trainer, facilitator, presenter, developing curriculum, or managing projects and programs in a technical field.
    • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), web-based learning platforms, and course-authoring software such as Captivate, Camtasia or EdApp.
    • Knowledge and understanding of Engineer learning styles.
  • Preferred Experience
    • Knowledge of heavy-duty commercial truck systems and regulations.
    • Knowledge of Automotive SPICE, and V-Cycle compliance and processes.
    • Familiar with software requirements specifications and a working knowledge of requirements management toolsets such as Rational Doors Next Generation.
  • Skills Required
    • Ability to work independently and in teams with excellent problem solving, communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
    • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects, with the ability to organize and coordinate work efficiently, prioritize workload, adapt to changing priorities, and adhere to deadlines.
    • Strong computer skills including project management tools, word processing, flowchart/modeling, presentation, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally in a results-orientated environment.
  • Travel up to 20%, including internationally.
