Job Summary

The Zero Emissions department is looking for collaborative and driven engineers to join our team, focused on research and advanced product development. Our teams are at the forefront of Battery Electric, Hydrogen Fuel Cell, and advanced concepts including the Supertruck II advanced efficiency program. Through the progression of concepts within a phase-gate approach, our teams take early ideas to production solutions. This process includes analysis, simulation, mockups, core design, and testing on demonstration units. Our roles provide opportunities for creative problem solving and exploration, and as such, we look forward to your unique contributions that help drive efficient products and technologies into our local communities.


In these roles, you will have a significant voice in the direction of the program and will provide input back into production channels. You will get the opportunity to explore, innovate, and have the freedom to generate ideas. You will follow through on concepts to produce prototypes, develop test plans and analyze performance results.


Job Functions / Responsibilities 

  • Provide direction for vehicle electrical architecture, including input to and development of component and system specifications.
  • Collaborate on mild-hybrid vehicle architecture and related systems with multiple voltage busses.
  • Design and fabricate prototype harnesses for vehicle testing.
  • Focus on efficient and elegant solutions that are lightweight.
  • Become an active participant in-vehicle electrical/electronics roadmap.


Qualifications / Skills

  • BS in ME/EE with 7+ years of industry-related background in the design and specification of automotive or HD truck components.
  • A Master’s degree and PE License are a plus. 
  • Be outgoing and challenge the status quo, willing to share and push for product improvements via innovative and effective solutions that require above and beyond effort to develop. Share ideas at the division level to feed future product roadmaps.
  • Willingness to grow personally and professionally, ready to learn and make use of new engineering processes and techniques.
  • Be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
  • Prior experience in product development and new product implementation.
  • Ability to perform and/or lead development efforts, and coach others on design techniques.
  • Advanced proficiency using Pro Engineer or other solids modeling software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team to achieve timely objectives.
  • Competency in the use of personal computer software and MS Office suite of tools.
  • Willingness to be hands-on, develop prototypes and support on-the-ground testing.
  • Experience with Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) methodology preferred.
  • Experience with multiple components or whole vehicle architecture is a plus.
