Kenworth Truck Company is the manufacturer of The World’s Best® heavy and medium duty trucks. Job Summary
Kenworth’s Zero Emissions department is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our team developing Fuel Cell electric trucks. This individual will develop and integrate electrical and electronic solutions for our Fuel Cell project which is on target to be first to market. The successful candidate must initiate and coordinate design activities to align with goals across multiple PACCAR Divisions. The ideal candidate will deliver validated designs that continue to enhance PACCAR’s reputation as an industry leader in the development of efficient and green solutions.


Here's what you will do in this role: 

  • Design electrical wiring, grounding, and power distribution systems for zero emission products. 
  • Use Siemens Capital to design and release wire harnesses and schematics
  • Be a technical leader on the design and development of Zero Emissions technologies
  • Manage project deliverables through all stages of development and adapt job responsibilities within the team to ensure successful completion
  • Employ Design for Six Sigma and engineering tools to develop and validate designs
  • Complete engineering change notice documentation to manage old and new parts and use proprietary software to issue part bid requests
  • Manage implementation of product changes by tracking project schedule, budget, and functional requirements throughout the life of the project
  • Manage supplier activities related to design and manufacture of components Support assembly, troubleshooting, and validation of pilot and production vehicles during assembly and launch
  • Conduct RCA and countermeasure actions on field issues as identified in a timely manner
  • Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions, including Purchasing, Quality, Serivce and Manufacturing.
  • Travel up to 10%


Skills & Qualifications: 

  • BSEE or equivalent engineering degree required, Masters and PE license a plus.
  • Automotive/Truck background not essential. Interested to hear from veterans and personnel from the Aeronautical, Marine, and other similar industries.
  • 3+ years design & release of components or equivalent
  • Demonstrate use of Engineering tools such as Siemens Capital, Creo, Windchill, Enovia, V5 etc
  • Have a working knowledge of industry standards and regulations: SAE, ISO, FMVSS, IP etc.
  • Experience in product development and NPI desired
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply Design for Six Sigma and associated techniques
  • Ability to perform in a lean, fast-paced, results-oriented environment, while managing multiple priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to clearly present status updates
  • Willingness to learn and make use of new engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems
  • Manufacturing plant experience advantageous
