PACCAR Embedded Engineering
PACCAR’s EmE Engineering department, which serves both Kenworth and Peterbilt, has an opening for an Application Software Engineer. Successful candidates for this role will be expected to demonstrate excellence in their respective fields, possess the ability to learn quickly, and strive for perfection within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to deliver critical program goals across multiple projects and continue to enhance PACCAR’s global functional and system development processes.
Position Summary
The Diagnostic Business Analyst will be aiding in the development of an innovative manufacturing and service tool. You will collaborate with an international, cross-functional team from manufacturing, service, product development, information technology, suppliers, and product validation. The Diagnostic Business Analyst will work directly with control system owners throughout the company to translate the needs of the diagnostic team into requirements and specifications. They will also collect customer needs and convert them to required functionality for internal and external suppliers.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Assist control system owners with the translation of diagnostics and programming implementations into documentation required for service tool interface with controllers
- Ensure PACCAR's global competitiveness and knowledge of vehicle system diagnostics
- Self-driven individual who can ensure requirements are met by PACCAR and our suppliers
- Build partnerships within PACCAR (cross-divisional) and with suppliers to optimize diagnostics
- Develop and maintain standards and templates for specifying and communicating diagnostic technical requirements to internal and external customers
- Responsible for managing the resolution of diagnostics and programming defects jointly with vehicle software development and delivery teams
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, computer science, or automotive field) or equivalent required
- 5-7 years of relevant working experience required
- Excellent written and strong verbal communication skills required
- Candidates must be able to operate in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment where multiple active projects require coordination of concurrent tasks across diverse business units
- Experience in automotive electronic systems, preferably including extensive on- and off-board diagnostics design and/or development
- Familiarity with office software including project management tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
- Knowledgeable in the full process life-cycle software engineering development process for embedded systems
- Solid understanding of Design for Six Sigma disciplines and tools preferred
- Project management experience preferred
- Experience with software development will be highly valued
- Proficiency in using requirements management tools and systems engineering tools such as IBM Rational Rhapsody, IBM Rational DOORS and/or HP ALM is a plus
- Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle networks, such as CAN, SAE J1939, and LIN preferred

The salary range for the Diagnostic Business Analyst is $93,000 – $145,500 annually. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
