Job Functions / Responsibilities

The Advanced Manufacturing Engineering Department is looking for a collaborative and driven engineer to support our teams this summer, focused on developing information tools and project tracking systems. Our goals are to develop industry leading products that help transition the heavy-duty transportation industry to clean energy solutions including hydrogen fuel cell, battery electric, and advanced efficiency vehicles. Interns will have the opportunity experience the product development process and create new methods to track the performance of the manufacturing engineering organization in meeting project goals.

 

You will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to the direction and completion of new information systems to measure and track department performance on major new product development projects. You will get the opportunity to explore, innovate, and have freedom to generate ideas. You will follow-through on concepts to produce prototype systems, collect user feedback across multiple PACCAR manufacturing locations and deploy your solutions.

 

Projects may include:

  • Reading and manipulating Microsoft Excel files
  • Designing and creating a database (SQL or Access)
  • Importing Excel files into a database
  • Develop a utility for users to insert new data into a database
  • Develop a front-end UI (Tableau or Website) with database backend for engineering teams
  • Creating and managing a GitHub repository
  • Deploy code on a server in the cloud

 

Qualifications

  • 2 – 3 years of college experience, preferably in Computer Science or related field
  • Programming knowledge/skills in the following technology, but not limited to:
    • C# and SQL
    • .NET MVC
    • HTML, CSS, JavaScript
    • Tableau
    • JSON, XML, CSV
    • RESTful API
  • Moderate to advanced experience in Microsoft Excel
  • Knowledge of Git and AWS
  • Understanding of Agile concept
  • Strong problem solving and communication skills with positive attitude
