Requisition Summary

This role supervises and oversee the shop service personnel to attain high levels of quality, morale, safety, and efficiency within the branch's maintenance team. The role supervises the Lead Technician, who is responsible for directing the technician team to achieve maximum efficiency when conducting maintenance and repairs to customer vechicles and shop equipment for a designated shift. Additionally, this role may perform technician work as needed and fulfill Service Manager duties in their absence. This role reports to the Service Manager.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

•    Responsible for managing and training direct reports in accordance with shop objectives to meet business goals
•    Establish group and individual accountability; assign work, approve shift time (including overtime), track goal attainment by direct reports, and provide leadership and development as required to achieve business results
•    Determine and continually improve staffing utilization within department
•    Manage personnel-related issues, including disciplinary action, performance evaluations, etc; consulting with Company Store Service Manager and Branch Manager as necessary
•    Review quality of work within Service Shop to include: review PM records and performs management inspections to ensure units are being serviced according to PLC policy, certify that work performed is properly recorded on shop repair orders, ensure that fuelers are performing 10-point inspections, and observe direct reports to uncover performance opportunities and provide coaching.
•    Ensure maximum warranty recovery by closely monitoring and improving the warranty submittal processes
•    Promote a safe, clean, and organized environment
•    Coordinate the preparation of new and sold vehicles for placement in or out of service
•    Ensure that environmental guidelines and OSHA standards are followed
•    Fulfill the Service Manager's duties as needed in their absence


•    3 or more years of supervisory experience
•    5 or more years of diesel mechanic shop experience
•    Valid CDL with good driving record
•    Extensive knowledge of diesel machines
•    Possess the physical abilities, without limitations, to perform duties of full job description
•    Able and willing to work varying shifts and locations
•    Strong leadership, organizational and planning abilities, and excellent analytical and problem-solving skills


High school diploma required. Some college preferred.
