Requisition Summary

Seeking energetic, independent engineer with interest in developing, integrating, and testing engine, aftertreatment, and other truck systems for an advanced demonstration vehicle that will help direct the course for PACCAR’s product plans for the next 10-15 years. The scope of work includes working with styling, aerodynamics, cooling packaging, routings, and heat transfer engineers to define and integrate a next-generation powertrain for initial and final advanced concept demonstration trucks. Work with other systems suppliers such as wiper and HVAC to integrate safe and effective solutions to this high performance truck.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Work with chassis, styling, aerodynamics, cooling, routing, and heat transfer engineers and suppliers to develop and integrate an advanced engine, aftertreatment, and other truck systems as needed
  • Manage powertrain integration as a co-development with outer body and chassis evolution with emphasis on manufacturability, reliability, weight impact, and service
  • Understand and analyze packaging, clearance, and strength considerations to conceptualize and develop robust prototype installations.
  • Able to work with lab personnel and lab tools to complete installations and enhancements to the final prototype designs.
  • Perform DV level testing and subsequent revisions to ensure road worthiness for city and highway testing.

Qualifications / Skills

  • BS in Engineering or related field required; PE license preferred
  • Commercial Drivers License desirable
  • 5+ years powertrain integration experience using ProE
  • Expertise with modeling complex systems with dynamic and thermal considerations and emphasis on weight control of a commercially viable final product
  • Familiar with use of CFD and FEA tools to refine designs
  • Overall truck knowledge, electrical, and mechanical skills (chassis, powertrain, cab/sleeper structure, interior)
  • Self-directed and motivated with demonstrated ability to use good judgment and effective decision making skills in leading simulation development.
  • Experience in the specification and design of complex automotive components.
  • Experience designing, developing, and validating transportation technologies that improve fuel economy and drivability
  • Willing to make use of engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
  • Ability to manage time and resources, and a familiarity with project management methods and tools
  • Competent with personal computer software such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills

Education

BS in Engineering or related field required; PE license preferred
