Requisition Summary

The Low Cab Forward Engineer will support design and development for the Peterbilt models 520 and 220, as well as the KW K270/K370. This position will be based in Denton, TX and will interface with the Mexicali design team as well as the KenMex production facility.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Design, develop and launch heavy-duty truck systems in the Low Cab Forward group. 
  • Utilize Pro/E to create complex assemblies that meet both structural and aesthetic goals.
  • Work with internal and external organizations to validate the designs.
  • Utilize PACCAR and industry systems to manage the product implementation process, track costs, and support new product introductions.
  • Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.
  • Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously.
  • Develop and maintain a clear understanding of plant and supplier processes.
  • Apply creativity to design tasks and propose innovative approaches to standard work.
Skills / Competencies
  • Degree in Engineering required
  • 3+ years industry-related background in the design and specification of automotive systems  
  • Advanced proficiency using Pro/E or other solids modeling software required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to perform and/or lead development efforts on design techniques including Design for Six Sigma, Six Sigma, Pro-E and specific technical competencies.  
  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles.
  • Willingness to learn and make use of new engineering processes and techniques.
  • Experience solving complex technical problems.
  • Past experience in product development and new product implementation. 
  • Travel required <15%
  • Proficiency in Spanish preferred
Education

Degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering is strongly preferred.
