Requisition Summary

The Vehicle Integration team is looking for a Supervisor to lead the Vehicle Function Design group, responsible for the design and development of PACCAR’s continuously improving vehicle functionality. This position will be responsible for designing software requirements across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs, L2/L4 ADAS and IVI (In Vehicle Infotainment displays). We are looking for a team player who will be tasked with working with several other areas of engineering between different Paccar NA, EU and Australia divisions.

This team will lead the concept architecture and requirements design development for systems related to commercial EVs, L2/L4 ADAS and IVI being developed at PACCAR Inc. They will develop deep knowledge related to their team’s system responsibilities and lead the technical experts for system feature / function design. The utilization of 'systems level thinking' will be key in this role. We are looking for a highly energetic and creative thinker with attention to detail. We are looking for someone who can lead a high-performance team to manage the technology and process to ensure timely delivery of their function and feature design concept.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Lead the Function Design team in all aspects of systems development such as requirements design, analysis and development of their applicable system
  • Conduct significant interaction with PACCAR Embedded Engineering, Kenworth, and DAF Vehicle Integration teams
  • Coordinate with Product Planning & Marketing Department and the Embedded working teams to confirm functional design concepts.
  • Coordinate with the Functional Safety team to incorporate functional safety requirements into the design concept.
  • Champion functional design concept reviews that include desktop prototypes
  • Ensure work is completed as per the milestones with excellence
  • Responsible for compliance with PACCAR Inc. processes and safety procedures
  • Guide the building of high level Control Function Architecture in IBM Rhapsody, with assistance from architecture team
  • Guide the building of desktop prototypes in Simulink
  • Guide and implement bidirectional linking of architecture to the requirements in DNG.
  • Create and maintain applicable system/subsystem/component software specifications in IBM DOORS / DOORS Next Generation (DNG)
  • Lead/participate in software requirement peer reviews to ensure compliance to requirements
  • Utilize RTC for tracking work product deliverables and generate report outs.


  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related technical degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with automotive or similar electronic modules and/or systems engineering
  • Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORS, DNG, RTC, Rhapsody, etc.
  • High level of oral and written communication skills and basic project management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with colleagues local and at remote sites
  • Comfortable with ambiguity
  • Strong technical leadership skills and able to work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility, delivery and schedule commitment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree
  • Understanding of major automotive vehicle systems such as Advanced Driver-Assistance (ADAS), Motion Control, Automotive Network, and Powertrain
  • Experience in writing and comprehending software and hardware requirements and interfaces using.
  • Design/Development of safety critical systems/components (ISO26262)
  • Experience in automotive product release and specification process
  • Experience using Matlab/Simulink for building low resolution prototypes.
