Requisition Summary

PACCAR is seeking an Assistant Director of Purchasing – Special Projects and Support to lead a group of Analyst and Project Managers that are engaged in support activities associated with commodity sourcing / management as well as special projects supporting PACCAR Purchasing.

This position is housed in Denton, Texas at the Peterbilt Division Engineering offices.  The role supports both the Peterbilt and Kenworth truck divisions.   

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Manage, coach and develop a team of Purchasing Analyst and Project Managers
  • Support Program Management, Engineering, Materials, and Operations in the execution of divisional projects and programs
  • Support or Lead the development of analytical tools to:
    • Improve evaluation and oversight of supplier capabilities
    • Assess cost performance utilizing data such as should cost and market scans
    • Development of new reports / dash boards to increase performance and efficiencies
  • Support Commodity Managers in supplier negotiations and establishment of requirements with respect to product cost, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics and quality.
  • Support Commodity Managers in development of commercial arrangements such as Non-Disclosure Agreements, Warranty Agreements, Letters of Intent, Letters of Agreement, Long Term Agreements, and Design Development Agreements.
  • Support Commodity Managers in cost reduction initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, Data Analytics or related field.
  • 5-10 years of Purchasing, Materials, Engineering, or related experience.
  • Supervisory experience including demonstrated leadership to accomplish corporate objectives.
  • Experience with original equipment part purchasing, design, manufacturing, and/or supply chain management.
  • Commercial transportation, heavy equipment, or automotive industry, experience a plus.
  • Proven negotiation and strong analytical skills
  • Project Management.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Able to travel (domestic and international)

 

Education

  • Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field.
  • Masters preferred (e.g.: MS, MBA).
