Requisition Summary


The Safety/Area Human Resources Manager is responsible for providing Human Resources leadership, developing, implementing, and managing safety programs and services for the PACCAR Engine Company in assigned areas for the evening shift.

Job Functions / Responsibilities


  • Leadership development for clients which includes the recruiting/staffing selection, performance feedback process, organization resource planning process (succession), career development planning (IDP) process, and hands-on curriculum development and training.
  • Organization effectiveness for clients which includes high performance work systems, continuous improvement systems support, change management systems, communication processes, employee satisfaction measurements and improvement systems, employee issue resolution systems, union-free systems, and reward and recognition systems.
  • Human Resources Services/Administration leadership. Acts as a liaison with the Human Resources Administrators which includes compensation administration, benefit administration, Human Resources computer systems, and regulatory compliance and guidance. 
  • Manage a comprehensive safety program including prevention, inspection, investigation, and recording of incidents and related costs. Detect hazardous conditions, track and measure results and recommend as well as implement appropriate actions.
  • Provide leadership, training, and analysis to leadership, managers, and employees in the identification of potential hazards and accident prevention.
  • Oversee the Division’s OSHA and worker’s compensation program, including investigations, reporting, and collection of information for claims management.
  • Develop and implement preventive or corrective measures relating to processes, machinery layout, plant ergonomics, and/or personal protective equipment.
  • Proactively streamline safety processes and automate as appropriate.
  • Oversee the various safety committees ensuring effectiveness.
  • Administer and facilitate safety training.
  • Develop, maintain and communicate the plants emergency programs, ensuring proper training and certification.
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Coordinate with OSHA inspectors, fire department inspections, and PACCAR insurance carriers.
  • Assist in basic first aid treatment and other duties as needed.
  • Benchmark safety programs with other PACCAR locations as well as suppliers and PACCAR peer companies.
  • Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills


  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Human Resources, or related field required.
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years Safety/Human Resources experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Professional certification in safety, industrial hygiene or hazardous materials preferred.
  • Experience in both Union and Non-Union environment preferred.
  • MBA, PHR, SPHR preferred.
