Requisition Summary
The Safety/Area Human Resources Manager is responsible for providing Human Resources leadership, developing, implementing, and managing safety programs and services for the PACCAR Engine Company in assigned areas for the evening shift.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Recruitment and Talent Management:
- Lead annual goal setting, employee development planning and performance appraisal and succession planning process for business partners.
- Assists with salary evaluations, affirmative action and diversity planning.
- Administers new hire processes including orientations and announcements.
- Manage job descriptions and other staffing related activities.
Training and Development:
- Collaborates with HR team to organize and facilitate PACCAR compliance training such as New Supervisor Orientation and Expectations of a PACCAR Manager.
- Facilitates corporate skills-based training such as meeting management.
- Leverage existing technology to recommend and implement automated training solutions.
Engagement, Rewards and Retention:
- Facilitates and recommends programs to support employee engagement and communications.
- Supports absence management/Leave of Absence programs including FMLA, ADA, STD, State leave programs and Worker’s Compensation in coordination with Division Benefits Specialist
- Administers the exit process including exit interviews. Provide summary and analysis of trends.
- Recommends employee development opportunities such as mentors, job shadow/job rotation and 360 evaluations.
Organizational and HR Effectiveness:
- Acts as primary HR partner for various division departments.
- Builds positive business partner relationships. Participates in weekly business staff meetings, providing HR and business guidance.
- Partner with managers on performance management, leads workplace investigations, recommends corrective actions.
- Provides employee and manager coaching.
- Participates in division and Companywide Six Sigma projects, Internal Control audits, and projects that support the human resources needs of PACCAR’s continuous improvement approach.
- Partners with management and legal to resolve performance issues. Ensures compliance with policies and procedures.
- Participates in global HR continuous improvement initiatives. Leverages existing technology in new and creative ways.
- Other duties as assigned.
Commitment to Safety:
- Manage a comprehensive safety program including prevention, inspection, investigation, and recording of incidents and related costs. Detect hazardous conditions, track and measure results and recommend as well as implement appropriate actions.
- Provide leadership, training, and analysis to leadership, managers, and employees in the identification of potential hazards and accident prevention.
- Oversee the Division’s OSHA and worker’s compensation program, including investigations, reporting, and collection of information for claims management.
- Develop and implement preventive or corrective measures relating to processes, machinery layout, plant ergonomics, and/or personal protective equipment.
- Proactively streamline safety processes and automate as appropriate.
- Oversee the various safety committees ensuring effectiveness.
- Administer and facilitate safety training.
- Develop, maintain and communicate the plants emergency programs, ensuring proper training and certification.
- Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. Coordinate with OSHA inspectors, fire department inspections, and PACCAR insurance carriers.
- Assist in basic first aid treatment and other duties as needed.
- Benchmark safety programs with other PACCAR locations as well as suppliers and PACCAR peer companies.
- Special projects as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Safety Management, or related field required.
- Five (5) to seven (7) years Human Resources / Safety experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Experience in both Union and Non-Union environment preferred.
- MBA, PHR, SPHR preferred.
