Position: Senior Accounting Specialist – Payroll                                                                 

Reports to (Title): General Accounting Manager                         

Summary:

This position reports to the General Accounting Manager and will provide the ideal candidate the opportunity to demonstrate their ability to work in a fast-paced environment with responsibility for payroll operations and general accounting duties.

Essential Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Administer the electronic timekeeping and attendance system; review and ensure accuracy of approved timesheets; prepare daily balancing and posting of Union & Non-Union shop employee labor; answer employee questions and troubleshoot issues.
  • Coordinate bi-weekly payroll processing for exempt & non-exempt employees including wage assignments and other deductions.
  • Prepare monthly journal entries and related general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Compile internal management reports.
  • Perform internal control process reviews as assigned by accounting department.
  • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field
  • Prior payroll processing (SAP)
  • Solid understanding of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in manufacturing environment
  • Experience using AS400/Infinium or SAP

Technical Skills:

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
  • Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Excel and Word)
  • Outstanding written, verbal, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills required with the ability to work independently, handling multiple tasks and changing priorities while meeting non-negotiable deadlines
  • Analytical capabilities and attention to detail with a “big picture” focus
