 Manufacturing Planning Analyst


Assists in developing, directing and implementing programs to ensure material availability and accurate scheduling for delivery to production, in accordance with established objectives and ensure customer satisfaction. 


Primary focus will be division scheduling and communication initiatives involving the Kanban Program, Maintaining Master Schedules, Developing Shortage Reports, Managing Obsolete and Surplus Inventory, and Communicating Production Information needed throughout Sales, Purchasing, Production and Logistics Functions.  Report writing in Excel, Tableau, SQL and other tools will be expected as part of this position.


Will report to Master Scheduler and learn all aspects of the function as well as support production control personnel absences for vacations and team involvement.



  • Manages, monitors, and trains personnel on the Kanban Process division wide.
  • Assists Materials Supervisors and Parts Coordinators with information to ensure routings and picks are in place in a timely manner for shipping process.
  • Assists Master Scheduler in preparing and entering production plans for the division plants monthly.
  • Monitors commitments to customers from Production Planning Meetings and reports and assists production control teams with follow up on all components as needed
  • Provides Machine Shop and Assembly Supervisors information to assist them in scheduling machines, setting priorities for long lead time items, and ensuring that shortages are monitored such that production commitments are met.
  • Works with Cost Accounting Manager, Controller, and Warehouse Supervision to establish Surplus and Obsolete materials for disposition.  Transacts and tracks items and costs disposed or sent to third party warehouses.  Also generates reports for Surplus & Obsolete Team review and approval as needed prior to disposition.
  • Lead and participate in continuous improvements, which impact the facility through lean and six sigma tool usage.  This includes looking for opportunities to eliminate waste and automating redundant data entry tasks.
  • Create and review material department metric reports and visualizations as needed in Tableau, Excel, and Other Report Writing Software.   
  • Exhibits leadership and innovation by staying abreast of developments in Supply Chain technology through trade publications, participation in industry groups (APICS), and self-development study.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.
  • May participate in technical evaluation of manufactured items; assists in control of material in and out of the plant. 


                                         DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS


  • Degree in appropriate major is desired with 3 to 5 years related experience in materials/inventory control management. Prior supervisory experience is preferred. 
  • APICS certification strongly preferred.  Prior experience with MRP/ERP in multi-level bill of material structures and planning is required.    AS400 and/or SAP experience desired.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is required with a strong emphasis on Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.  Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation are required.
  • Proficiency in Data Analytics.  Tableau experience preferred. SQL based report writing skills in Excel, Crystal Reports, or other SQL languages a plus.  Visual Basic skills are also desired.
  • Six Sigma and Lean Concepts experience is expected with this position.
