Requisition Summary

Negotiate and manage all aspects of PACCAR’s relationship with assigned suppliers in the Structures Group, including the commercial/contractual requirements with respect to total quality, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics and total cost.  Commodity Managers are change agents, focused on delivering the highest value to internal and external customers at the lowest total cost. 

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance and enhanced product quality 
  •  Investigate and implement new technologies, strategic procurement strategies and logistical opportunities 
  • Interact with all PACCAR operations worldwide to successfully develop and execute global supply chain and commodity strategies 
  • Communicate and conduct meetings and formal presentations with suppliers, plant, and division personnel at all management levels 
  • Travel to supplier locations in order to evaluate capabilities, assess production readiness, investigate new opportunities, improve manufacturing efficiencies and resolve chronic supply and quality issues 
  • Travel to PACCAR’s global operating locations in support of the above activities. 
  • Negotiate long-term supply, development and warranty agreements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of purchasing, engineering, and/or related experience
  • Experience with castings and/or commercial trucking a plus
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills 
  • Creative, quality and results-driven work ethic 
  • Proven negotiation and strong analytical skills 
  • PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint) 
  • Project Team participation and/or Project Management

Education

BA degree in Business Administration or related field
