Requisition Summary

The chosen candidate will administer various property and casualty risk financing programs and specialty insurance for finance subsidiaries. This position also administers and coordinates local insurance placements for Non-U.S. operations. Designs, operates and maintains Risk Management Information Systems, including analysis of needs and system capabilities, development of programs, procedures and controls.  Performs risk control activities and contract analysis related to exposures, indemnity and insurance.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Insurance Program Design and Negotiation - 30%

  • Designs and implements procedures for obtaining, maintaining, and distributing underwriting information, and for proper control of programs.
  • Obtains underwriting data from business units, completes initial insurance applications, and coordinates broker and insurance renewal strategy meetings.
  • Participates in negotiations with broker in designing insurance programs, including policy terms, program structure and pricing.
  • Works with brokers to obtain most comprehensive and cost effective coverages through quality insurance companies.
  • Acquires, analyzes and maintains information necessary for negotiating insurance and develops procedures for obtaining, reporting and maintaining program data.
  • Coordinates the preparation of complex specifications and insurance applications.
  • Analyzes and evaluates insurance proposals and makes recommendations to Department Management.

 

Insurance Program Administration - 30%

  • Conducts the day-to-day administration related to various insurance contracts.
  • Safeguards original copies of all corporate insurance contracts and maintains the department’s primary insurance document files and location listing.
  • Maintains historical insurance cost information and policy status checklists.
  • Verifies insurance coverages submitted by the broker for compliance with corporate requirements and with negotiated agreements; approves them accordingly, and reviews policy documentation for accuracy.
  • Interprets insurance policy coverage and resolves insurance related questions or issues with internal and/or external sources.
  • Verifies billing for accuracy and approves billings for payment.
  • Evaluates request for certificates of insurance by reviewing contracts or lease agreements for appropriate insurance wording and/or limits of insurance.  Issues certificates of insurance or self-insurance letters as appropriate.
  • Assists in the liability claims management process; prepares data for entry into liability RMIS, verifies documentation that is processed through the Accounting Department, produces monthly reports, prepares supporting documentation for large loss reports.

 

Risk Management - 30%

  • Informs Management of material risk issues and on follow-through of risk control and process improvement recommendations.  Make recommendations for alternative to processes, mitigation strategies and risk assumption solutions.
  • Administers worldwide auto program; maintains database for tracking and reporting vehicles. Evaluates request for Auto ID insurance cards and issues Auto ID cards for U.S. and Canadian programs, as appropriate.
  • Reviews and approves contract provisions relating to risk and insurance for leases, contracts, sales and finance agreements to ascertain compliance with appropriate insurance requirements.
  • Provides ongoing technical consulting and support to the operating entities on risk management and insurance related issues.

 

Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) - 10%

  • Manages the RMIS liability claims, auto and file system databases.
  • Produces reports required for insurance specifications, actuarial studies, self-insurance and insurance program management, claims and administration, acquisition/divestiture activities.
  • Confers with users and/or systems specialist staff to define data processing requirements, including conducting tests, documentation and maintenance on the information systems, together with input and output controls.
  • Acts as resource for other staff members in training in the use of personal computers and related software and hardware.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years related experience in Risk Management or Insurance.  
  • Must have demonstrated accounting skills. 
  • Knowledge of business law, contract analysis, claims management, and an in-depth understanding of broad range of insurance concepts and coverages. 
  • Position requires the ability to maintain confidentiality, project management skills and the ability to work independently to achieve results. 
  • Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills required.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree required.
