Requisition Summary
This position is engaged in varied tasks and duties in support of key Purchasing Projects.  Advanced Purchasing Commodity Managers are change agents, focused on delivering the highest value to internal and external customers at the lowest total cost. 

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop global commodity strategies for input into the Truck Divisions Toll Gate process.
  • Research the supply market to identify potential suppliers for major projects. Manage early supplier involvement as necessary.
  • Develop process and procedure to support ESI supplier involvement for major programs
  • Interface with the Truck Divisions to ensure new Program Purchasing support.
  • Coordinating supplier evaluations and selections (from long list to short list of suppliers) within Purchasing and the Truck Divisions.
  • Manage the Material portion of MLO costs to identify and implement cost reductions and quality standards into the design. Establish Material cost targets with the division program teams.
  • Conduct meetings and formally present to suppliers, plant, and division personnel at all management levels.
  • Travel (Approximately 10%-25% travel)
     

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Strong analytical skills and excellent written/verbal communication skills
  • Minimum 5 years of Purchasing, Engineering, Materials or related experience
  • Experience with Automotive Purchasing – Preferred
  • Six Sigma trained (DFSS, Green Belt or Black Belt) - Preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required, negotiation experience a plus
  • Project team participation and /or project management experience
  • Advanced PC skills (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Creative, quality and results-driven work ethic

 

Education
Bachelor degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering or related field required, MBA preferred.
