Requisition Summary

The Corporate Environmental Engineer manages corporate environmental affairs  including oversight of environmental compliance for facilities, ISO14001, environmental sustainability, and reduction of liability, remediation/investigation of orphan sites, maintenance of environmental reserves reporting and support for environmental due diligence for real estate and business transactions.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Sustainability

  • Track and provide global guidance on corporate environmental leadership and sustainability initiatives including: ISO14001 program, greenhouse gas reporting, zero-waste to landfill.
  • Seek to continuously improve PACCAR’s environmental excellence.

Compliance and Reduction/Reporting of Environmental Liabilities

  • Conduct environmental audits to reduce environmental liabilities.

  • Position PACCAR for compliance with internal environmental policies, as well as new or proposed facility related environmental regulations through existing network of environmental contacts and consultants.
  • Maintain sufficient details of environmental remediation projects and reviews of new potential environmental liabilities to report and recommend changes to PACCAR’s environmental reserves on a quarterly basis.
  • Track project progress, budgets, reserve estimates for environmental remediation projects globally through the environmental contacts at PACCAR’s global facilities, or for orphan sites, through steering committees and consultants.
  • Obtain appropriate approvals for releases and invoices related to environmental projects managed at Corporate. Process approved PO’s and invoices through accounting.

General Job Requirements

  • Develop a global network of internal and external contacts to maintain and extend PACCAR’s environmental leadership and compliance programs.

  • Provide weekly reports of significant environmental events to senior management.
  • Establish and track project and department budgets and schedules as requested by senior management.
  • Maintain departmental files in accordance with standard policy.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 5 years minimum. 10 years preferred. 2 years industrial experience preferred.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to work for extended periods on a computer is required. Occasional tasks require ability to walk, stand, and climb stairs such as during remediation site visits and in conducting environmental audits.
  • Knowledge of Federal, state and provincial environmental regulations such as CERCLA, RCRA, Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Stormwater regulations and their local equivalents.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, verbally, written and ability to listen and develop positive working relationships.
  • Eagerness to share details and collaborate on projects to provide transparency, and ability to independently manage responsibilities as requested.

Education

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science or Engineering required.
  • MBA preferred.
