Requisition Summary

If you are a dynamic, ambitious, and self-motivated individual, who is passionate about doing things correctly the first time, then we have the perfect opportunity for you.  Continuous Improvement professionals are responsible to increase quality and efficiency of PACCAR’s products and services.  By deploying Six Sigma, Lean, and structured problem solving across our businesses, we manage risk, set direction and lead the way to breakthrough improvements in product and process quality. We are pleased you are seeking an internship with PACCAR.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Continuous Improvement Interns will interact with various PACCAR divisions; learn about Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies; and get real world experience participating in process improvement projects. As contributing team members, interns will gather and analyze data, formulate recommended solutions, and assist with improvement implementation.

Intern will be placed in manufacturing/assembly or transactional work groups depending on qualifications.

Internships to begin June, 2018
Experience will include:
• Support Assistant Director of Continuous Improvement, Master Black Belts, and/or Dedicated Black Belts on select projects
• Develop a basic understanding of Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies
• Work with cross-functional teams to measure, analyze and improve process capability
• Interact with all levels of the Quality organization
• Intern will be assigned to a project team and will process map, gather and analyze data, document work, provide updates, etc.

Skills / Competencies

The skills that are important to be successful in this position are as follows:

• Strong quantitative, statistical and problem solving skills.
• PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
• High ethical standards
• Self-starter with willingness to learn new ideas.
• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Minitab and Tableau a plus

 

Education

• Should have completed 50% or more of the requirements for an undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or similar mathematics or business curriculum
• Should have proven record of high achievement, teamwork and participation in non-academic and volunteer activities.
