Requisition Summary

Negotiate and manage all aspects of PACCAR’s relationship with an assigned group of suppliers/commodities, including the commercial/contractual requirements with respect to total quality, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics and total cost. Will have a significant role in PACCAR’s development of climate-friendly hybrid and electric vehicles. Commodity Managers are change agents, focused on delivering the highest value to internal and external customers at the lowest total cost. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance, enhanced product quality, innovative technology, and maximum PACCAR value 
  • Investigate and implement new procurement strategies and logistical opportunities
  • Issue formal Requests For Information/Proposal/Quote (RFI’s, RFP’s, and RFQ’s), analyze supplier responses, and select suppliers that meet or exceed PACCAR’s requirements
  • Collaborate with PACCAR personnel/operations worldwide to successfully develop and execute global supply-chain, commodity, and technology strategies 
  • Communicate and conduct meetings and formal presentations with suppliers, plant, and division personnel at all management levels 
  • Travel to supplier locations in order to evaluate capabilities, assess production readiness, investigate new opportunities, improve manufacturing efficiencies, and resolve chronic supply and quality issues 
  • Travel to PACCAR’s global operating locations in support of the above activities. 
  • Negotiate long-term supply, development, proof-of-concept, and warranty agreements

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in purchasing, marketing, engineering, materials, or related PACCAR experience 
  • Excellent written/verbal communication skills 
  • Creative, quality and results-driven work ethic 
  • Proven negotiation and strong analytical skills 
  • Strong PC skills (Excel, Word, Access, & PowerPoint)
  • Project team participation and/or project management
  • BA degree in Business Administration, Engineering, or related field, MBA preferred
