Requisition Summary

PACCAR is searching for talented individuals to join our 2021 Summer Purchasing Internship Program! The Puget Sound area is home to several PACCAR divisions. The Purchasing Internship Program will place  the selected candidate in Purchasing Team at the corporate building in Bellevue, WA

Internships include unique learning opportunities:

  • Learn first-hand from the industry's top professionals
  • Work directly with Senior Managers and Commodity Managers
  • Develop mentoring relationships with experienced supply chain professionals
  • Gain valuable hands on experience
  • Interns will be assigned a project, project assignments will vary by teams
  • 12 week-commitment is required (start and end dates may vary – generally start May and June and end in August or September)

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Corporate Purchasing Interns will get real-world experience in day-to-day supply chain management operations, interact with various PACCAR divisions and learn dependencies between materials, Marketing, Engineering, Information Technology, Supplier Quality, Finance, and Purchasing.


The experience will include:

  • Participate in SAP Centralization Project
  • Assist with SharePoint online enhancement
  • Data Centralization, Data Analysis
  • Support Commodity Managers on select projects to negotiate and manage all aspects of PACCAR’s relationship with an assigned group of suppliers, including the commercial/contractual requirements with respect to total quality, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics, and total cost.
  • Support Commodity managers in the development, negotiation, and implementation of strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance and enhanced product quality.
  • Evaluation of Supply Chain communication and workflow with a focus on opportunities for improved efficiency and utilization of system capabilities.

Skills / Competencies

• High ethical standards
• PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint)
• Self-starter with a high sense of urgency and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Web development (SharePoint Online), process automation and / or coding experience is a plus
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills
•  High ethical standards


• Required Education: Should have completed 50% or more of the requirements for an undergraduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Economics or similar business curriculum
